I linked to the image in this weblog because it illustrated a point I’ve been trying to wrap my mind around:
There’s a paradox cleverly illustrated by this particular strip of Shannon Wheeler’s “Too Much Coffee Man”. If there is a divine and transcendent consciousness manifest in physical existence, and like the Augustinian theology that this consciousness would be an amalgamation of all conscious thought throughout time, it would appear to be “omniscient” to other time-bound consciousnesses (like us). So, in knowing and understanding all things in an infinite universe, the divine itself shouldn’t be able to have faith in a higher power. Funny, really. Absurd, in fact. Makes for a clever comic strip.
