Alice Cooper is a Christian
Alice Cooper says he loves God but doesn’t want to become a ‘celebrity’ believer.
The father of shock rock whose music and stage antics have
outraged parents for more than 30 years told how the fear of hell
turned him to God.
Alice Cooper, who sang about necrophilia and chopped up baby
dolls during his concerts, said that although he continues to record
and tour with a theatrical horror-style show, “My life is dedicated to
follow Christ.”
Although he became a Christian in the 1980s, apart from brief
comments in some interviews the 54-year-old singer has always been
guarded about his faith ? until now. But in a frank interview with a
Christian music magazine, he spoke at length publicly for the first
time about his love for God and reluctance to become a “Christian
celebrity.”
A chart-topper with the teen anthem “School’s Out,” Cooper ?
who legally changed his name from Vince Furnier ? has been credited
with paving the way for the likes of today’s outrageous performers such
as Marilyn Manson.

But he maintains that his act was never political or religious and always had “a sense of humor.” He told HM: The Hard Music Magazine
that he was always insulted whenever he was accused of being satanic.
Raised in a Christian home, he still believed in God, although he was
not committed.
That changed when alcoholism threatened his marriage. He and
his wife, Sheryl, attended a church with a “hellfire pastor.” Cooper
said he became a Christian “initially more out of the fear of God,
rather than the love of God … I did not want to go to hell.”
Interviewed for HM’s March/April issue, Cooper views his faith as “an
ongoing thing.”
“Being a Christian is something you just progress in. You learn. You go to your Bible studies. You pray,” he said.
He has avoided “celebrity Christianity,” because “it’s really
easy to focus on Alice Cooper and not on Christ. I’m a rock singer. I’m
nothing more than that. I’m not a philosopher. I consider myself low on
the totem pole of knowledgeable Christians. So, don’t look for answers
from me.”
Yet he has been able to speak to others in the music scene about his faith.
“I’ve had a couple of people that were friends of mine that I’ve
talked to that have vocally said they have [accepted Christ]. I have
talked to some big stars about this, some really horrific characters
… and you’d be surprised. The ones that you would think are the
furthest gone are the ones that are more apt to listen.”
Songs on Cooper’s more recent recordings have hinted at his
change of heart. He sees his stage persona now as “the prophet of
doom,” telling people: “‘Be careful! Satan is not a myth. Don’t sit
around pretending like Satan is just a joke.’ I think my job is to warn
about Satan.”
He no longer performs some of his older repertoire. Any song
promoting promiscuous sex and drinking “gets the axe,” he said. “I’m
very careful about what the lyrics are. I tried to write songs that
were equally as good, only with a better message.”
Cooper told HM he answers his critics: “‘I was one thing at one
time, and I’m something new. I’m a new creature now. Don’t judge Alice
by what he used to be. Praise God for what I am now.’”

Alice Cooper is NOT a Christian.
He portrays evil: Necrophilia, poison, drug use, rebellion, rape, you name it – and STILL, after he calls himself Christian, he continues his persona to millions of people.
Jesus said that if the tree is good, the fruit is good.
Alice Cooper says he’s good, but his ‘fruit’ is not.
When you give your life to Christ, everything changes, even at the sake of your career and moneybag. Alice clings to Mammon, and horrific, horrible things Christ detested, and then says that because his family life is okay, everything’s cool.
Have you forgotten? Satan said to Christ, ‘All these kingdoms I will give you, if you fall down and worship me.’ Alice, like all aging devils, give charity, money, anything you like, if you’ll believe him. Christ made it clear: GET THEE BEHIND ME SATAN.
His charity means nothing to God. If Alice was saved, he’d horribly reprimand his character and confess to the world that what he did, and portrayed, was WRONG, and he’ll NEVER DO IT AGAIN. His talent, which is great, would be converted to GOOD. But NO, he does NOT. Even John said, ‘Let your works be in accordance with repentance.’ Alice Cooper does NOT repent. It doesn’t work, hands down.
He influenced me greatly, but only for the bad. Only Jesus saved me from demonic influences like him. There is no recourse. And you know it.
no one know alice coopers heart but alice cooper and god.
you talk about good fruits and bad.is every christian who professes his faith pure as the driven snow?arent we all sinners.dont forget alice cooper is a performer.he once said in the british times in 2001 “beer is easy trashing your hotel room is easy, but being a christian thats a tough call thats real rebellion”and since your quoting the bible dont forget, judge and ye will be judged.the measure you use to judge man will be used to judge you.the beatles said it best “live and let die”
dont be a hypocrite. i like to keep things real simple theres no reason to get all worked up about if alice cooper is on the level or not.who really cares any way .we all have to be accountable for our own actions, not the actions of others.by the way a real christian wouldnt be so bitter about this topic cause if you have christ you dont have anamosity towards others the way you do
IF GOD SAVED KING DAVID, SAVED US SINNERS BY DYING FOR US, WHY WOULDNT HE FORGIVE ALICE COOPER, LIKE MORNING STARS SAYS, ONLY ALICE COOPER AND GOD KNOW IF ALICE COOPER BELIEVES IN THE ALLMIGHTY….., PERSONAL OPINION, IT WOULD BE GREAT FOR THE WORLD IF ITS TRUE BECAUSE ALICE COOPER A VERY BIG TESTIMONY , THERES NO IMPOSIBLES FOR GOD¡¡¡¡
GOD HELPS THE NEEDED ONES¡¡¡ ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT¡¡¡
its amazing tome how easily as Christians we see people in the hollywood spotlight and say he’s a Christian, he’s not based upon their past and the imperfections of their life. Being a pastor in Calgary I have seen my fair share of “non-Christian” lifestyles been changed by Chrsit not the word of man. Only God can judge the hearts intent, and God can use us for His ministry in any place that we currently are, Alice is a humble mand who is learning to love God, so lets not judge him, besdies God and God alone is Judge and Jury. Alice is working God’s angle to show the world the devil exists and there is hope. God bless Alice Cooper.
Atticus,
It is fortunate for us all that you are not God. Thankfully HE knows the heart of Vincent Furnier. God help those who stand in your judgement.
I cannot judge Alice Cooper’s relationship with God and neither can anyone else, that is between him and God.
I will say this though. The Word says, “you will know them by their fruits”. It also says that a good tree produces good fruit and a bad tree produces bad fruit, it goes on to say that a bad tree cannot produce good fruit nor a good tree produce bad fruit. I have not heard his new music nor seen his new act and I can’t judge from that. The Word tells us to test the spirits whether they are of God. From what I read above it seems that Alice has not grown much in his walk with the Lord. However, that is his business with God not mine. There are way too many Sunday Christians in this world who really believe they are saved and just go church, listen to a sermon, and go home. They never read the Word, don’t pray much unless they need something, don’t make time for God, and therefore don’t grow in Christ. The Word teaches that we should be continually growing in Christ daily. If we aren’t growing then we are back-sliding. We cannot stay in one place. Either we move forward or we slide backward. Don’t forget where Christ makes the statement, “I never knew you”. Even though the people in that passage think they are saved because of there many works, they never had a true relationship with Him and therefore He says, “I never knew you”. By the way, we who are in Christ are no longer called “sinners”. We are called, “the righteousness of God in Him”. Praise God!
God bless you all including Alice Cooper. Pray for him!
YES, I AGREE WITH DISCIPLE. DEFINITION OF A CHRISTIAN:
SOMEONE WHO HAS ASKED CHRIST’S DEATH ON THE CROSS TO PAY FOR THEIR SINS. THANK YOU JESUS. IT’S THAT SIMPLE. READ EPHESIANS 2;8&9. FOR IT IS BY GRACE YOU HAVE SAVED,THROUGH FAITH AND THIS IS NOT FROM YOURSELVES, IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD NOT BY WORKS, SO THAT NO ONE CAN BOAST.
