Idaho man “sees mark of beast” cuts off, microwaves hand
Hayden, Apeshit, Idaho — Last week Hayden saw a side of their 10,000 white Christian populace they hoped was a routine circumcision gone horribly wrong. It wasn’t.
On January 10, a man in his mid-20’s took a circular saw to his right hand where he had witnessed “the mark of the Beast” cooked it in the microwave and called 911.
The hand was still doing pirouettes in the microwave when officials arrived.
“It had been somewhat cooked by the time the deputy arrived,” sheriff’s Capt. Ben Wolfinger said. “He put a tourniquet on his arm before, so he didn’t bleed to death. That kind of mental illness is just sad.”
Just sad. Is it just sad when religion provides the psychological backdrop to justify pattern child molestation, the murder of harmless limp-wristed homosexuals, or driving a plane into a building? More than just sad it’s dangerous…and super-freaky.
The Book of Revelation in the New Testament contains a passage in which an angel is quoted as saying: “If anyone worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on the forehead or on the hand, he, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury.”
The book of Matthew also contains the passage: “And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for you whole body to do into hell.”
Nation — Before we are Christians, Muslims or Jews, before we are Democrats or Republicans, before we are men and women, let us be human beings. Let us be simple but open.
This monotheistic moral rigidity has flames dancing in the back of millions of eyes and they are ready to judge you, slap you with church infused laws, and burn you.
Why? Because in the Christian mind there is Good and then there is Evil.
Evil must perish.

Ask the guy with the glock to you head as he robs you if he believe in God and its unlikely he’ll say yes.
Aetheists have issue too SId, they just are far too many, and they aren’t as shiny and attactive to the watercooler voyer. Christians make for better blather.
thought the same thing about the last little bit as Jeff H. little bitter…
i am curious about whose so ready to judge and slap me.
but the nation part was top notch. love it up as human beings. we’re gonna hav’ta learn a little bit about that i think.
your arm can’t just sin by itself. first you’d hav’ta tell it to gosh. unless it were part of your parasympathetic nervous system. (my first attempt at having something scientific to say!)
mike.
Curious Life – Duely noted. In fact I believe I’ll edit that bit right now.
